Position Objective
The Faculty Counselor will manage a caseload primarily consisting of students enrolled in the Running Start program and technical college pathways. This role provides comprehensive academic advising and counseling services to Running Start participants, as well as new and continuing students at Clover Park Technical College (CPTC), beginning with New Student Orientation (NSO) and continuing through program completion.
Key responsibilities include assisting students in understanding degree and certificate requirements, offering targeted support to those identified through academic warning, satisfactory academic progress, and early alert systems, and monitoring academic performance to promote retention and completion. The Faculty Counselor will work collaboratively with instructional programs to deliver wraparound support services that enhance student success.
This position also oversees the day-to-day operations of the CPTC Running Start program, including student entry, program coordination, and related administrative functions. The Faculty Counselor is responsible for developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local school districts and high schools, ensuring alignment on course equivalency and high school graduation requirements. Additionally, this role is accountable for monthly program reporting, managing payment procedures, and fulfilling other administrative duties.
Aligned with CPTC's mission, the Faculty Counselor contributes to student access and success by implementing intentional strategies aimed at improving retention and supporting timely program completion.

Clover Park Technical College is located in Lakewood, Washington. Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders and blueprint readers.
